Acupuncture is the ancient therapy of inserting very fine needles into specific points on the body. It is generally very safe and can be an excellent alternative to medication or other interventions.
IMS, like acupuncture, uses fine stainless steel needles into specific points on the body, but that is one of the only similarities between the two treatment modalities.
The most common cause of vertigo is Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) which can be treated with a series of head movements after a complete assessment.
Pain neuroscience education (PNE) helps to explain the neurobiology and neurophysiology of pain, and pain processing by the central nervous system.
PNE requires a deeper level of reasoning and a different approach from the traditional medical model, and considers the role of brain plasticity in chronic pain. PNE can be used with a combination of treatments, including exercise therapy, with the goal of decreasing the sensitivity of the nervous system.
